Inside the 'Buy Women Built' Movement
"When you buy women-built, you not only support the incredible brands we already have, but also help the next generation dream bigger. And the bigger girls dream, the stronger and fairer our life will be"
We need to address something that's super important – women starting their own businesses. It’s a big deal, especially here in the UK, where we're actually falling behind other countries. In fact we are 30% behind, which surprised me. Another depressing fact is that most kids between 11 and 18 can't name even one female entrepreneur. When they hear the word 'entrepreneur', they're four times more likely to picture a man. That’s not just a small gap – it's a huge one, and it's all about how we see business leaders.
So, thank goodness for my new networking group called "Buy Women Built." They showcase the amazing women who are building businesses and breaking those stereotypes. This group of over 800 female founders is the most friendly and useful group I’ve ever joined (and there’s been a few). We ask questions, we get help from our ‘competitors’, we collaborate . THAT is the world of women entrepreneurs - not too shabby! The average consumer has no way of knowing which brands are created by women, but if you start to look out for the ‘Built by Women’ kitemark you begin to notice the products, and hopefully start the charge to empower female owned businesses.
We've collaborated with these AWESOME foody brands. Not only is every product thoughtfully packaged, they are all incredibly delicious... You have until midnight on Dec 7th to enter over on Instagram.
