WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT?
From Bahia Brazil to East Sussex. This is the story of the romantically named America Brewer. As a small child in Bahia, she would climb out onto a vine that twisted around her house and balcony just to gorge on the fresh grapes that hung there. A memory and a passion had begun.
The Oastbrook estate is the direct result of her energy and hard work. On this walk of the vineyards you will be led by America and her husband Nick as you learn how their award winning Sussex English sparkling wines, and still English wines are grown and made there. It has everything to do with the raw product, the quality of the vine and the soil.
This tour is filled with stories and interactive experiences along the way. It is an inspiration to hear America talk about grapes and taste the fruit of her labour. On the way around you will stop off at the winery for a behind the scenes look at the tanks and barrels.
At the end of the tour there will be, of course, a wine tasting, where you will sample four of the estate’s award winning wines, alongside a cheese platter. There is also a Charcuterie platter if you fancy getting really stuck in, but order in advance. There are up to 20 other people on this 2.5 hour visit, and you are welcome to stay on and enjoy the bar afterwards.
Their story has just started, and it is inspirational to see the progress they have made in a very few years. This tour is ideal for both wine enthusiasts and novices, and a perfect day out in the countryside.
