Wow - despite living in London for all my adult life this was a completely new experience. Mark was a fabulous guide; giving us an insight to the East End through food and history. Well paced and informative, enhanced by sampling some great food! Go on an empty stomach! Highly recommended

My sister and I received this Indytute experience as a Christmas gift, which was perfect for us as we both love walking, exploring, history and food. We arrived at the meeting point and were greeted by our lovely tour guide, Emma, who was brandishing a bag of delicious salmon and cream cheese "beigels". We'd come prepared with empty stomachs, so we were excited to get munching straight away! As we ate, Emma outlined the order of the tour for us and gave us some background info about the East End's contribution to British cuisine. We then wove through the streets, stopping to look at street art and historical buildings with foodie history. In terms of what food we tried; first stop was drinks at a local coffee house, second was pies in Old Spitalfield Market, third was pakoras on Brick Lane and fourth was fish and chips at Poppie's. It wasn't too huge a distance to cover and it was done in perfect depth and felt like great value for money. We really liked everyone in our tour group, and thought tour guide Emma was fantastic. Would absolutely recommend for tourists, foodies, and gift-givers!
