WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT?

Colonel Saab is a restaurant that is awash with eclectic Indian art, from the moment you walk through the door, there will be some artefact to catch your eye. The building itself has history, once Holborn Old Town Hall, a grade 11 listed building. The councilors have been swept out and in their place a venue now layered with the textures and soul of India.

The chandeliers (handcrafted and shipped from India) give out a soft twinkle and soothing jazz music transports you back into a bygone era. This is a restaurant with atmosphere. But of course, you are really here for the Afternoon Tea.

TELL ME MORE

The tiered ‘charlie’ overflows with a delicious mix of Indian and continental treats.

The crustless cucumber sandwiches set the scene, spread with a coriander mayonnaise, and vie for space with sultana scones, clotted cream and strawberry jam. Carrot cake, macaroons, and chocolates are just really for starters, a precursor to the chocolate silk cake.. For your Indian fix there are crispy samosas and dhokla sandwiches, and if you haven’t tasted a dhokla sandwich, expect to see flour cakes steamed to perfection, and served with a tamarind and mint chutney.

Obviously there is tea - choose from twelve different flavours.  Chai, charlie and tea - very jazzy, very Colonel Saab.
