WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT?

This ukulele starter kit contains everything you need to get going: a tuner, a bunch of song sheets, a voucher for a one-to-one 90-minute ukulele lesson online, and, of course, a ukulele.
YOUR UKULELE
The ukulele is supplied by World of Ukes, a UK specialist with a decade of experience in sourcing, supplying and setting up ukes ready to play. A crucial factor in beginning your ukulele journey is, naturally, the instrument itself. World of Ukes inspect and adjust every ukulele in their workshop prior to dispatch, ensuring it is optimised to play comfortably. With the right instrument, checked and set up correctly, there’ll be nothing to prevent your ukulele progress.

OPTION 1 (BLACK) The first ukulele option is the Octopus UK200D-BK, which is fitted with reliable Aquila strings and quality geared tuners which turn and tune smoothly. There are a huge number of painted ukuleles available today, but the Octopus brand is regarded by the ukulele community as the best budget model to get you started with. It maintains that breezy, traditional ukulele sound without being overly bright, adding a bit of mellow warmth into the mix.
OPTION 2 (BROWN) The Baton Rouge UR-11S, a soprano ukulele that gives even more richness of tone, with a smooth sonic backdrop punctuated by sweet, singing trebles. This model echoes the classic vintage mahogany ukuleles that were so popular in the last century and feels beautifully balanced and easy to play in your hands.
YOUR TEACHER
Your teacher, cabaret performer and musician Tricity Vogue, has been playing ukulele since the noughties, and she’s taught the Indytute's ukulele workshops for the last seven years. Her iconic free monthly ukulele night, Ukulele Cabaret, has been going strong for over a decade in a pub in Kings Cross, and took the Edinburgh Fringe by storm for five years in a row. Since the first lockdown it's moved onto Zoom and Facebook Live and begun to attract international artists and audiences. Her annual ukulele workshops at the Edinburgh Fringe have won five star reviews. Tricity can't help but make her classes entertaining as well as helpful, so you're in for a fun, feel-good lesson in her company.
