Stockport is fast becoming ‘The New Berlin.’ There’s ‘Foodie Friday,’ when thousands descend on the Old Town to eat and listen to music, and areas deprived from years of underinvestment have been taken over by bars, bakeries, and boutiques. The brakes are definitely off, and Stockport is now featured as one of the best places to live in the North West.
Only eight minutes from Manchester, the area is home to an art and food scene that is ready to explode. If you haven’t been yet, then this is the tour to introduce you to some of the North West’s best, most delicious independent food vendors.

This is a 3-hour stroll through the old town and market area. Stop-offs will include local producers, distillers, bakers, and, of course, the history of the town. There will be stories. Lots of them. Your guide will be local, an expert in anecdotes, and how Stockport played its part in shaping the world. Indeed, dressing the world for Stockport was the centre of the country’s hatting industry. In 1884, Stockport could boast of exporting more than six million hats a year. That’s a lot of hats.

Really interesting tour and delicious food!
We tried the newly launched Stockport tour and it was just brilliant. Our guide was fun to be with, and we were introduced to interesting local food businesses, with plenty of tasty food and drinks to sample. There was a lot of local history, art and architecture to explore too, which was a bonus. Stockport is a quirky and fascinating venue, off the beaten track and a great place to explore.
We had a lovely tour with Julia especially as there were only 3 of us together with her on the group. We learnt all sorts about Stockport that we wouldn’t have known previously. Alans supermarket was a real find which we otherwise would have passed by 👍🏻😎 Highly recommend.
