WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT?
Walk in the footsteps of the great, good and the not-so-good. St Paul’s Cathedral has survived fires, wars and struggles of power and is linked to the history of London itself. The original was destroyed in the Great Fire of London in 1666 after which Sir Christopher Wren was drafted in to repair the cathedral, which was completed in a relatively short 35 years. The art alone makes a visit worthwhile. Time it correctly and you should be able to listen to the Cathedral choir.
You have an ample 2 hours to discover St Pauls, so there is no urgency to dash round. Just absorb the history and wealth of art from the crypts to the Dome. Not just for visitors. Londoners may pass around the Cathedral, and just forget to go in. Familiarity means becoming blase to the icons on your doorstep. Treat yourself to a reminder of how great London is.
Restorative food is vital after a spot of culture. So this experience includes a visit to The Lost Property Hotel, and their in-house restaurant ‘Found’, a speedy walk right across from the Cathedral.
This is an experience for a three-course menu, starter main course, and pudding. The food is modern with a French edge - There is a great bar too if you need to revive with a cocktail or two. The chandeliers sparkle and the leather banquettes are comfy.
In fact all in all a great day out in the city.
