It’s all about the knots in this workshop, as you create your own plant holder or leaf decoration.
WHAT’S THIS ALL ABOUT?
Remember macrame? It’s a craft that you can learn at quite a basic level—friendship bracelets are made using the technique. Examples have been found on Babylonian carvings, and the skill was quite the rage in Genoa in the 19th century.
This is a skill that has been adapted and used in everything from bedspreads to belts, and while there is sometimes a lull in its popularity, it never goes out of fashion.
Of course, it had a huge revival in the 1970s when plant hangers and wall hangings came into their own, and now you can start to learn the skill in this beginners' workshop and take home a rather fabulous new home accessory.
TELL ME MORE
This class is run by Aggy Rucin from Knots and Stalks. She only uses recycled cotton cord, and there are no toxic dyes in the string. You can choose between two different classes: either make a plant holder or a leaf decoration to display on a wall. All the materials will be ready, so you can choose your own colors, and under expert guidance, you will start the journey into knotting.
There is something very zen about the process, and of course, you will be going home with your creation and a new skill.
