Discover the intricate craft of lino printing by hand. Lino printing is a hands-on creative process that can be explored in some very exciting ways. This is an informal workshop where you will learn the hows and wherefores of lino cutting before printing your own limited editions!
WHAT’S THIS ALL ABOUT?
A perfect class to introduce you to the world of print. A calming and very satisfying experience, and rather more sophisticated than it might first appear. If it was good enough for Picasso, Matisse, and Kandinsky, that tells you quite a lot about the process. In this class, you will be learning lino cutting and how to design, carve and print a linocut block, which you can use again and again for any home printing projects.
TELL ME MORE
You are free to bring along sketches or design ideas for inspiration on the night. Templates will also be available, making the process even easier to learn. You can take home your completed prints, as well as your lino block, so you can keep on inking. The workshops are run by The Bristol Print Collective, whose members are artists brought together with a love for all things ink. It was founded by Jemma Gunning and Victoria Willmott, who met while studying their Masters degree in Multidisciplinary Printmaking at Bristol University UWE Bristol. They discovered a shared interest—print workshops that can explore the medium without the need for bulky equipment, so classes can be enjoyed outside a formal studio setup.
The class lasts for an inky 3 hours.
