Once supplying a fifth of London's electricity—including power to Buckingham Palace and Westminster—Battersea Power Station stands as an iconic landmark. The famous chimneys earned it listed status. It's a firm favourite with Londoners, who never thought that the redevelopment would happen. How wrong they were. The site has been transformed into a destination shopping area.

In 2014, the historic chimneys were carefully dismantled, then meticulously reconstructed to match the originals—with one remarkable innovation. The north-west chimney now houses an extraordinary lift experience.

Journey 109 metres skyward through this engineering marvel for breathtaking 360-degree views across London. Your adventure begins in the Turbine Hall among original records that chronicle the power station's history. The views from the top are spectacular, and the journey up is illuminated with light patterns. You won't be getting out of the lift; there is glass between you and the sky. So say hello to any intrepid pigeons, and enjoy the thrill of floating above the London skyline.

The Duchess of Bedford was behind this invention, the gap between lunch and dinner proving too much of a wait. A pot of tea and a few fancies quickly turned into a social occasion, and that is exactly what you will be having after your tour of the gallery.

Any guest you bring will be thrilled with this tea. The sandwiches, scones, and cakes are served in The Lounge, and alongside the various teas or coffee, a glass of sparkling wine will form part of the afternoon treats.
