A hands-on leatherworking workshop where you'll make a belt from scratch, built to fit and made to last...

WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT?

There’s something particularly satisfying about making something you’ll actually use.

Join award-winning accessories designer and Offland founder Rowan Ceridwen Sharp for a three-and-a-half-hour introduction to traditional leatherworking, where you’ll turn a length of beautiful leather into your very own handmade belt.

Cut, punch, finish and assemble your piece under Rowan’s expert eye, learning the techniques that go into creating an accessory designed to get better with age.

WHAT HAPPENS IN THIS WORKSHOP?

You’ll start with the raw materials and work your way through the process of making a leather belt completely by hand.

Rowan will guide you through measuring and sizing your belt before introducing you to the tools and traditional leatherworking techniques used to shape and finish it. You’ll learn how to cut and prepare the leather, create the holes, finish the edges and fit the hardware before bringing everything together into your finished piece.

And you’re in very good hands.

Rowan trained at Cordwainers and was named Jimmy Choo Accessories Designer of the Year. Her career has taken her across fashion, interiors and specialist leatherwork, with her work featured in publications including Vogue and Wallpaper*. Through Offland, she now brings those skills to beautifully considered pieces made with craftsmanship and longevity firmly in mind.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have picked up a proper introduction to the craft and, more importantly, leave wearing a belt you made yourself.

No mass production. No identical accessories. Just good leather, traditional skills and something made by you.

I went for a treat to myself. Even going alone i didn’t feel unwelcome. Another craft to my bow. I love upcycling and China charity shopping, so this will purge me on

This was gift for my two teenage sons and I tagged along as their chaperone. The professional photographer was great and hugely engaged & passionate about his subject. He brought it to life with the streets of Shoreditch as the backdrop. My son's enjoyed it and took some great photos. A perfect gift for teenagers and I loved it too!

The Urban photography with James was a birthday present from my wife, all communications with Claire via Indytute were spot on and the meet was on time. James is a skilled photographer and all round nice chap who was able to communicate to the array of clients with varying skills, ages and equipment. The 90 minutes flew by and centred around four photography tasks to sharpen the skills. The last task was quite an enlightening experience for me, James instructed us to walk down Brick Lane and ask...
