Cheese Barge Afternoon Tea on a barge in London. Cheese tasting experience on a solid 96ft double decker barge, The Cheese Barge! Moored on the Regent's Canal serving - cheese! In fact they do ring the changes with the odd Braised beef shin risotto (with fresh goat’s curd) but really their grilled cheese sarnies and cheese boards are the main event. It’s just the best way to watch the world and the ducks go by.
The best way to check out this floating cheese palace is to forgo cakes, and tea and sit down to ‘Afternoon Cheese tasting for Two’. This comprises a platter of 6 different British cheeses, each with individual condiment pairings alongside crackers and 2 grilled cheese sandwich with a glass of Prosecco each or non-alcoholic alternative.
If that sounds a bit mundane, perhaps we should point out that the cheeses are to die for. The Cheese barge supports the real cheese makers of Britain, farmers and rural communities who produce cheeses that you can’t find in supermarkets. The pairings are selected with care and could be a pickled cucumber or a slice of poached pear.
So pass the chilli jam Gromit, and help yourself to some of that Quicke’s Clothbound Cheddar on the way round…

We had a great time at the cheese barge. The afternoon tea option with prosecco for us was definitely the right move. We asked the server to recommend the cheese selection and he suggested going for all 15 on the menu, then we could choose extra of 5 that we liked. Great idea and worked out perfectly. The venue is qwerky so n a good way. We had a nice view of the canal. Would definitely go again.

Bought this for my Dad for his Birthday, he absolutely loved it. Also said it was a great part of London he wasn’t familiar with before.
We went to the cheese barge in August after I bought the experience for my husband’s birthday in March. To say it was brilliant is an under statement as it was way beyond brilliant. From the location to the cheese, wine plus the service and then the walk along the canal afterwards…well it was all so brilliant that it has now become a Christmas gift for another family member. A real twist on the ‘afternoon tea’ and just so enjoyable…and, oh, did I say the cheeses were pretty delicious too!
Everything was perfect from the start and delivered on all levels, including the help to book the trip via Indytute (big shout out to Helen who quickly resolved my booking problem) down to the day itself. A delightful experience and something a bit different to the norm. Great location and delicious cheese and wine. Barge staff were really friendly and helpful. No negatives and shall definitely be returning.
Wow what a find the Cheese Barge is. From start to finish the whole experience was amazing. The cheeses were to die for. The curried cheese curd was mind blowing. Will definitely be coming back for more. The staff were so attentive.
