Pedal through royal parks on a vintage bike, soak up Tudor tales and WWII secrets, pause at a cosy pub, and explore Hampton Court Palace. For 2 people.
WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT?
A cycle ride on a vintage, sit up and beg bike. No lycra required, just an interest in nature and a love for a good historical tale. These bikes have bells, and you can choose one with a basket if you are the type of person who likes to carry more than a house key.
The day starts at Hampton Court train station, and you are about to embark on an 8-mile ride to the riverside home of Henry VIII. At this point it would be good to point out that the 8 miles are flat. Absolutely no inclines. You will also have a pause at a local pub, so you can sip and sit.
TELL ME MORE
You will be cycling through the Royal Parks and the grounds of Hampton Court Palace. Enjoy views of the Long Water as you cycle round this extraordinary palace. Along the way your guide will be pausing to regale you with tales - not just of Tudor intrigue, but also WWII secrets and Cold War curiosities. There will be plenty of time for photos and just looking.
When the tour is over, you can stay and wander to your heart's content. Leave the bikes with your guide and maybe explore the palace. In season you could take the boat back to Richmond or Westminster, a fitting end to a day of gentle pedalling - no lycra involved.
