The London Knowledge by Indytute

Explore London like a local here

Explore London's wild side before sitting down to a seasonal feast inspired by the incredible ingredients growing all around us...

WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT?

Part foraging adventure, part dinner party, this is an evening for anyone who thinks great ingredients should come with a good story.

Join Flavour Fred to discover the wild flavours growing across North London before heading behind the walls of The Castle Climbing Centre, where a hidden garden overflowing with edible plants, herbs, fruits and flowers becomes the setting for a seasonal feast.

You’ll discover what’s edible, what definitely isn’t and how centuries of knowledge can turn seemingly ordinary plants into seriously exciting food.

WHAT HAPPENS ON THE EXPERIENCE?

Your evening begins with a 1.5-hour guided walk through Clissold Park and the surrounding area, hunting out some of the wild ingredients growing right under Londoners’ noses.

Along the way, Fred will introduce you to practical identification techniques, seasonal ingredients and their dangerous lookalikes, weaving in the history and folklore surrounding wild food and how different cultures have used these ingredients over generations.

Then it’s time to eat.

The walk finishes in the beautiful walled garden at The Castle Climbing Centre, where you’ll settle in for a seasonal wild-inspired feast. The menu changes with nature and makes use of ingredients grown in the garden alongside carefully selected wild ingredients.

A selection of wild drinks accompanies the food, showcasing even more unusual flavours from Britain’s edible landscape.

It’s a chance to taste many of the ingredients and ideas you’ve been discussing, turning a wander through London's greenery into a properly memorable meal.

THE ALL IMPORTANT DETAILS

The complete experience lasts approximately 3.5 hours, including a 1.5-hour guided flavour-led walk followed by the feast.

Afternoon Tea

Throughly enjoyed Windsor Castle, lovely day weather wise, bit too hot ! 😀 well worth the money. Afternoon tea was ok, but not much choice of sandwiches.

Upon arrival at the reception desk all staff were polite and certainly made us feel welcome, we were ushered to our seats without any rush, the food was excellent from the starter, main and dessert with a complimentary Mocktail. Although there was only one choice of Mocktail our experience overall including the staff, the ambience of the dining area. Not to loud not too quiet.
