Woodwork your own Chopsticks

Woodwork your own Chopsticks

You haven’t really experienced a take-away, until you’ve made your own chopsticks, and they also make a very tasty gift.

You could whittle a spoon, but if you want a bit of one-upmanship (and really who doesn’t) the way forward is to carve your own chopsticks. This is an evening woodworking course (and you thought they were just two sticks). Starting with tea and cake you will be introduced to basic woodworking skills, and the correct use and maintenance of hand tools. Then you will be selecting the wood before you start carving. At the end of the evening, you will take home your own unique chopsticks - with contrasting wood inlay, and stand.

Meet your master carpenter, Charl Heynike, studied at Central St Martins and focuses on creating luxury products with superb high-end craftmanship from Japanese Knives to beautiful humidors.

This is an adult class, open to those over 16. All materials you need will be provided. Wear old clothes, and comfy shoes, you will be mostly standing. Tea and coffee are on tap but if you are inclined to get peckish bring a packed supper as there are no open cafes locally. The class happens in their workshop in South Bermondsey, SE14, from 6.30pm - 10.30pm.
