Create a photographic work of art made of silver and experience having your photo taken over 150 years ago via Zoom

WHAT IS TINTYPE?

Create a photograph made of silver, a picture rendered on metal and an image which is completely unique. Handmade from start to finish. The Tintype Studio use a darkroom process invented by the Victorians combined with state of the art lighting to create one-off, objects of beauty.

Each plate is handmade in the darkroom; it’s carefully coated in collodion and silver nitrate to create a light sensitive plate. The plate is placed in James's Victorian camera and the picture is made using modern flash lights and an exposure of a few seconds.

WHAT HAPPENS ON THE DAY?

You will join James Millar (one of only a handful of Tintype practitioners in the UK) in an hour session over Zoom. James will take your photo online and direct you before the call so that the lighting is right.

THE ALL IMPORTANT DETAILS

This experience for up to two people is an ideal couples experience, perfect for those with a love of photography and art. James will talk you through each stage of this fascinating process. You'll be sent two beautifully varnished 10 x 8 inch plates rendered on either metal or glass. You can book in at a time suitable to you and James. Works of art to be kept forever.
