WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT?

Nestled in the heart of Cheddar Gorge, beneath the iconic Lion Rock, this charming tea room has been serving up delightful treats since 1908. Once three stone mason's cottages and Cheddar's original cheese shop, it's now painted a very pretty blue and is everything a country tea shop should be. Cosy for a start.

There are seven different themed cottagecore rooms with a garden for summer months. These Tea Rooms have been winning awards for their cream teas for many years now a year, and now you and the dog can see why. Yes, well behaved dogs are welcomed into the Tea Room, but paws on the floor please.

This is a celebration tea, but it doesn't mean you need a mega occasion to indulge.  Go because it's a lovely thing to do, and you will feel all the happier for it.

TELL ME MORE

Upon arrival, you'll be greeted with a glass of Prosecco, which will immediately put you in the mood for something sweet. This is an old fashioned spread. Sandwiches, homemade fruit scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream (are you a cream first person?) and a selection of freshly baked cakes. Tea comes in a proper pot with loose leaf tea, none of that t-bag nonsense, or there's coffee if you prefer.

This is the kind of tea you visit the countryside for. Of course you can walk it off with a stroll around Lion Rock if you want to, but when tea is this good, asking for another pot and just r-e-l-a-x-i-n-g is definitely the best way to pass the afternoon.

This was gifted to us for Christmas. It was a hot day so we sat outside. The celebration tea was excellent. The prosecco chilled and delicious. the sandwiches and the cakes and scones were vry very good. The service was also excellent. We are going back again in October.

My wife and I have been to Cheddar on several occasions but never been for a cream tea in this location before. We were greeted with a warm welcome and given the choice of several tables, we chose a window seat as the weather was hot and sunny. The service was very prompt and efficient, The sandwiches and cakes looked and tasted delightful and our choice of tea came in a good sized teapot that gave us 3 cups each. We had a gin and tonic to cool ourselves down with whilst we waited for our orde...

Afternoon tea was perfect. The service was good and the staff were very friendly, we’d definitely go again.

Staff were so friendly, they couldn’t do enough for us. Really worth every penny. Food was delicious.

Venue was OK Table was very sticky from previous customers Food was not worth the money, not exactly generous! Cakes were awful. The type you can buy in a packet from a budget supermarket. Small, odd tasting scones. There was a strong vanilla taste, which made them quite unpleasant. Staff never checked back to see if we needed anything or it was OK Overall, not a place to celebrate = Give it a miss!

Very poor quality. Christmas cake slices from packet such as Mr Kipling and Thorntons millionaire squares. Expected a bit better quality for an afternoon tea for how much it cost
