Sparkling sake, Miso salted caramel, peanut tart. How exotic and delicious does that sound?
This is tea with a Japanese twist, served in the chicest of venues - La Bibliotheque, Kingsland Road. This is the perfect place to relax and give the taste buds a treat.
Expect a three tiered stand filled with savoury and sweet bites, created daily by the inhouse team. This is a tapas style of tea - small bites filled with flavours that are unexpected and creative - a fusion of Japanese and Mediterranean delicacies.
Of course there will be a pot of actual tea. Try sipping one of their Japanese varieties - there’s English as well if you want, but really the sweet potato Moshi will be crying out for a cup of green tea - the leaves are steamed right after harvesting which makes a brew that’s not only delicious but very, very good for you.
If you want to exchange your glass of sparkling sake for a glass of champagne no problem - but have you tried sparkling sake? The bubbles are light and fruity, served chilled and selected by the sake master at La Bibliotheque.

Our experience at the Palm Court for the ‘Afternoon Tea’ was divine, a calm atmosphere coupled by friendly service by all staff particularly ‘Kim & Efrey’. We arrived to the location earlier and kindly escorted to our table where we could explore the menu & unwind. We were given this trip up the Shard followed by dinner at the London Steakhouse as a gift, and really enjoyed this special experience! When booking, we selected our time so that we could go up the Shard an hour before sunset, and stayed for about two hours so that we saw the views in daylight and after dark - both were stunning! Yeah it was a great tour around a lovely Palace. Tour guide was very informative and very friendly.
Everything was perfect from the start and delivered on all levels, including the help to book the trip via Indytute (big shout out to Helen who quickly resolved my booking problem) down to the day itself. A delightful experience and something a bit different to the norm. Great location and delicious cheese and wine. Barge staff were really friendly and helpful. No negatives and shall definitely be returning.
