Vicki and her founder-in-crime take on a Soho food hunt
Real experience, tested by the people who actually run Indytute — no marketing gloss, just what happened when we tried it ourselves.
Tested - June 2026
We say we try to test as many Experiences ourselves as we can, so we’ve decided to start a Blog with our own personal review and description of our own day. We are aiming for a monthly Blog so that you can look back at the stuff we have tried. In June, before the summer heatwaves, we tried A Tasty Asian Food Hunt in Soho in the rain. Clues, riddles, and a lot of very good food, somewhere in the backstreets of Soho.
The Experience
- What is it?
- A Tasty Asian Food Hunt in Soho
- Duration
- 2-3 Hours
- Group size
- 2
- Price
- £109
- Location
- Soho
This one's part escape room, part street food crawl. You get a set of riddles that send you weaving through Soho, decoding clues as you go, with three food stops built into the route — each one dishing out something Asian-inspired and, frankly, better than you'd expect from a treasure hunt. Two to three hours, built for two, entirely outdoors, and dog-friendly if yours fancies a wander too.

So what actually happened?
We turned up with no real idea what to expect, which turned out to be the right way to do it. The clues were properly clever — tricky enough to make you stop and think, never so obscure that you want to throw in the towel. We only doubled back on ourselves twice, and both times it was because we'd walked straight past the answer without noticing.

The food stops were the best part. Each one seemed to know exactly who we were and what was coming, which made the whole thing feel less like a gimmick and more like we'd been let in on something. Our one piece of advice: do this over lunch into the afternoon. You will not want dinner afterwards. We didn't.

The only real downside was the weather — it tipped it down for most of the afternoon. To be fair, the food stops doubled nicely as shelter, and there are pubs along the route if you fancy ducking in for a drink while you wait it out. One stop nudged us to buy a drink while we were there, which we'd have done anyway, and we got a discount on drinks at the end of the hunt, so it still felt like fair value rather than an upsell.

Enjoyed most:
finally spotting a clue we'd already walked past twice.

Top tip:
skip eating either side of this one, wear shoes you don't mind walking in, and if it rains, treat the food stops as your excuse to dry off rather than a reason to rush.
The Verdict
Good enough that we're already eyeing up another one. If you like your days out with a bit of mystery and a lot of eating, this earns its place on the gift list.

Questions, answered
How long does the Soho food hunt take?
Around two to three hours, including the food stops. The game pauses while you eat, so you're not rushing your lunch to beat the clock. We'd suggest starting late morning and letting it run into the afternoon.
Do we need to book the food stops in advance?
No. The stops know you're coming as part of the hunt, so you just turn up and they sort you out. You'll want to book the hunt itself in advance though — it runs Wednesday to Sunday.
Is there enough food to count as a meal?
Three dishes each, and yes — comfortably. Don't book dinner either side. Vegetarian and vegan options are available; it isn't gluten-free.
What happens if it rains?
It's outdoors, so you'll get wet — we did. The food stops double as shelter and there are pubs along the route if you want to wait out a downpour. Comfortable, waterproof-ish shoes are the real requirement.
What else is worth doing in Soho?
Plenty. Our Soho London Knowledge guide covers the whole neighbourhood, and our London Knowledge hub has nine more across the city.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes — the hunt is entirely outdoors, so well-behaved dogs are welcome to join if yours fancies the wander.

Shaun & Vicki
Founders of Days of Your Life Group.
We Founded Days of Your Life Group in 2006 and in April 2025 we acquired Indytute from Calypso Rose, who had built something we’d admired for years. She didn’t want Indytute to be swallowed-up by a massive company that lists thousands of near identical supercar experiences, so she decided to pass the Indytute baton to us!
We’ve spent two decades giving people better days out rather than more stuff, and we’re still independent by choice. Indytute will not change – no filler, no hype and dedicated to independence.
When we’re not obsessing about gifting, Vicki walks/runs with her black lab and hubby Dean in all weathers; Shaun manages family chaos with Lanna, his wife, created by two under 7 year olds…
